  • The First round must include a work from the Baroque period.
  • The Second round must include a work from the Classical period.
  • The First/Second round must include a work by a South African composer. Only one work from the First/Second round may be repeated in the third round The final round may consist of any three contrasting works presented in previous rounds.
  • All repeat signs are to be ignored, except in the case of a Da Capo form.
  • Concerti or parts thereof are permitted for all instruments, except for piano.

In the event that no original works exist in a particular style for an instrument (i.e. Baroque works originally composed for the Saxophone), written requests can be made to SASMT Chairperson Ms. Hilda Boonzaaier (email: tygerbergbranch@gmail.com). A copy of the work to be included.
